Rongai secondary school (Rongai Boys) is a double-stream boarding school located within Rongai Township 35 km from Nakuru, with a maximum capacity of 360 boys. It is a private school owned by the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru and administered by the De La Salle (Christian) Brothers.
The adequate facilities at the school include: 8 classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, a library, science laboratories and a computer laboratory (over 40 computers –one per student and 10 printers).
The school has running water from its bore hole and electricity from the mains; it also has spacious ultra modern boarding facilities and dining hall for all its students.
The school has a holistic approach to education where we form the whole person; but with biasness towards academic excellence and practical-agriculture. The agricultural products in form of eggs, meat, milk and vegetables are served in our kitchen. The school encourages students to get involved in the various sports available (athletics, badminton, basketball, darts, handball, lawn tennis, table tennis and volleyball).
We follow the regular 8-4-4 academic program with a HEAVY emphasis on agriculture. The 9 acre school compound consists of the buildings and a 5 acre “Model Farm” on which Vegetables and Livestock Feed are grown.
Apart from a full academic schedule, the students are directly responsible of our crop (vegetables) and animal (chickens, cows, fish, goats, pigs, rabbits, sheep and turkeys) husbandry; they also serve each other by undertaking all cleaning works plus other manual works for which we don’t have hired work force (generally Form 1 and 2 students work while the 3s are job-trained as “managers”).
As our enterprise is a yearlong entity students are assigned on a rotational basis a one week (twice) duty either during the midterm or holiday breaks to work either in the small-scale farm or the animals.
MISSION STATEMENT Provision of holistic education that is geared towards producing responsible men in the society
VISION STATEMENTTo produce well-rounded students who would competitively fit into a dynamic society.
