Where We Are

6 countries   |   25+ schools & centres   |   Formation houses in Kenya, Ethiopia & Eritrea

The Lwanga District of Africa comprises six English-speaking countries — Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Mozambique, and South Africa — united in a shared mission of education and service.

Across these countries, we run schools of varying kinds and levels to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve. Our formation houses, dedicated to preparing the next generation of Brothers, are based in Nairobi (Kenya), Ethiopia, and Eritrea.

"One mission, six countries — a shared commitment to educate, uplift, and serve."

From cities to rural communities, our schools and centres reflect the Lasallian tradition of accessible, values-driven education — reaching students of all backgrounds across the African continent.

Our Schools

Primary and Secondary Schools

The core of the District's work remains full-time schooling — day and boarding schools offering a complete academic programme grounded in Lasallian values, from early primary through to secondary examinations, across all six sectors.

Vocational and Technical Training

For students better served by hands-on skills than an academic track, the District supports vocational and technical training, equipping young people with trades and qualifications that lead directly into employment or self-employment.

Formation and Teacher Training

Lasallian education depends on well-formed educators, not just good facilities. The District invests in ongoing formation for both Brothers and lay colleagues, so classroom practice stays rooted in the same values that have carried this mission since 1680.

Outreach to At-Risk Youth

Following De La Salle's own priority for the poor, several ministries focus specifically on vulnerable and at-risk young people — those who would otherwise have little or no access to a quality education at all.

Our Communities

A Shared Life

From the very first community De La Salle gathered in Reims, the Brothers have lived together in fraternity — sharing prayer, meals, and mission. This shared life is the foundation that makes the work of teaching sustainable and consistent, year after year.

Communities Across the District

Across the Lwanga District's six sectors, Brothers live in communities attached to schools and formation houses, supporting one another in both their spiritual life and their daily work in the classroom or administration.

Formation Houses and Novitiate

The District also maintains formation communities — including a novitiate — where men discerning a vocation as a Brother are accompanied through prayer, study, and community living before making their commitment to the Institute.
